HERE kaarten op Jolla’s SailfishOS

Het ziet ernaar uit dat SailfishOS voorzien wordt van HERE navigatiemateriaal, of in elk geval kaartmateriaal. Deze conclusie kan worden getrokken na het doorspitten van de voorwaarden van Jolla’s nieuw geopende platform voor applicatieontwikkelaar: harbour.jolla.com.

Indeed. HERE people are actually at the moment used in Nokia’s event as the forefront of the B2C Nokia.
It also shows by that HERE is being pushed to all possible platform. Jolla being prime example.

if you look at terms and conditions of the jolla harbour, then you can see for instance at the end (in the restriction part) a lot of mentions to HERE services, HERE Positioning services...

This is great news! HERE has great API’s and I was hoping these two would find each other.
I’m still not too hopeful at seeing some kind of full map suite from Jolla, but at least they have a proper source for the mapping data.

Can somebody show a example where HERE is mentioned?
EDIT: I guess they are in terms? Just can’t enter the terms page at the moment.

De mogelijkheid van HERE op het platform van Jolla is helemaal geen gekke gedachte, zoals ook in bovenstaande quote is te lezen. Nokia staat op het punt een groot deel van haar activiteiten te verkopen aan Microsoft, maar het HERE platform is daar geen onderdeel van. Het is vanuit commercieel oogpunt dus een logische stap als HERE beschikbaar komt op zoveel mogelijk platformen, al dan niet tegen betaling.

En voor Jolla en haar gebruikers is het in mijn ogen zeker goed nieuws. Navigatie is tegenwoordig een van de ‘standaard’ functionaliteiten die je mag verwachten van een smartphone.
